Choose a format for the content
Use JPG for photos without transparency, PNG for certain transparency needs, or WebP when supported by the destination. Format conversion cannot add source detail.
Match the display dimensions
Choose dimensions for the display area and high-density screens. Avoid full camera-resolution photos when only a small thumbnail is needed.
Compress while reviewing detail
Start at moderate quality, then compare size and appearance. Image text, fine lines and logos can suffer from excessive compression. Size targets are not always achievable.
Organize assets and metadata
Remove location metadata when unnecessary and use recognizable file names. Create a favicon for browser tabs. Download results before closing the page.
